Wont Start, “Reduced Engine Performance “ message

2008 HSE: wouldn’t start this morning, not a peep. Got the “reduced engine performance” message. So, can’t drive to garage, any ideas where I look?
Many thanks

Good start would be to check the battery, obvious I know but the FL2 is very sensitive to a low/flat battery.

Always start with charging (and then most likely renewing) battery. The FL2 needs a good stable voltage during start cycle as it has lots of electronic modules booting up.
This is the normal cause of random error messages.

We could do with a bit more info / history, if you need further help.

In the meantime this is what search brings up

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Thanks guys. You were right, although the battery seemed to turn over the engine quite normally it must have been on its way out. Hooking up to Clarke’s jump starter solved the problem, new battery now on order.

If it keeps happening, even with a new battery, it's probably the starter going out. I suspect the starter can short internally as it fails, which drains the battery when the vehicle is off. Fools you into thinking you have a battery/charging problem.
