I'm no expert but is there not a sensor that sends back the position of the turbo variable vanes?

There are no subcodes, it has also given a P0299 turbo underboost error, and a P2563 boost control sensor A curcuit range/ performance but these are clear and haven't returned.

Thanks for the help, I'll try this tomorrow if the weather improves and let you know how it goes, it makes sense as when I move the arm to the vanes , there is a sort of squelching sound which I guess is the carbon giving way. |

Tried the Mr Muscle trick but no improvement. In the end I fitted a new turbo which was a patience requiring process but all possible with a few tools and a set of axle stands! The turbo had damaged vanes and backing plate.
