US Election 2020: Moment BBC projects Biden victory on TV
Close
The BBC projects that Joe Biden has won the race to become US president, defeating Donald Trump following a cliff-hanger vote count after Tuesday's election.

This was the moment of the BBC News announcement on TV

Published 23 hours ago
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only a few hours later the BBC had to post this ...... "These projections are based on the unofficial results "
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was a contest of two major parties to decide which would become the US NEW president.

This was NOT a contest to decide which news media broadcasts the result first.

I do wish the media would REPORT THE NEWS, and NOT give us their opinions !!

This wasn't a great deal different to the way the American broadcasters handled the situation. They announced Biden as the winner, based on the results that were in and predictions of how the remaining states were voting at that stage. It's clear that final counting would be ongoing for days so in the circumstances they decided this was the likely result.

The major networks in the US do make "the call", this is how it works over the other side of the Atlantic at which point the loser usually concedes and the victor gives an acceptance speech.

The BBC has some problems it's true, some internal and some due to being pushed around n bashed due to politically motivated reasons. However with what you are highlighting it was doing nothing different to any other news service around the world.

Fake news is not welcome.

Has anyone conceded ??? I haven't heard Trump say that.

What I have heard is an acceptance speech.

COUNT the legitimate votes, then declare.

Other than REPORTING, the world press/media has no jurisdiction in the process.

Some may only concede when they move on from this world!

Voltaire, when asked to return to the faith of his fathers and renounce the devil, responded with,

“This is no time to be making new enemies.” Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Are you really anticipating that Trump will concede? He will drag this out for as long as he can, resident in the White House for as long as he is legally allowed, if not even longer.
He even went as far as to accuse Biden of bringing embarrassment upon the US through his acts of fraud and such like . . . .

Without doubt, he has been lining his pockets while in the WH as he has done his whole life before; he's as corrupt as they come and projects this onto his opponents, real or perceived, quite successfully with his "flock". He will leverage his leaving the WH to keep himself and family out of the "big house". Bank on it...... Thumbs Up
Casting doubt on the election will weaken Biden's Admin; that's really why the elected "Republicans" are playing along with the charade. Some believe the Dems did the same to Crooked Donnie. Wink Shocked Russia still benefits regardless............. Exclamation

President Trump is playing golf and seems to be avoiding directly speaking to anyone. I don't think that he will ever acknowledge that he is the loser.

What is needed is for the Mike Pence, the Vice President, to step in and clarify what is the position.
I would be interested in his opinion, but so far he has been silent.

As the press is reporting, most democratic countries governments are accepting this as a fair election, and although Trump increased his majority since 2016, Joe Biden got far more votes and will win the Electoral College's approval. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
