Radio interference

When I put the heated window on the radio drops in volume and also crackles.

I had this on a ford sierra that used the window element as an aerial, and had to replace the aerial amp.

could this be the same ?
if so location of amp ?

I will update you when I find the fault, I have not checked if the heated rear screen is working (the car is new to me)

I will check that first in case the element is at fault

Interesting! My rear wiper is starting to play-up and I get radio interference when it is stuck at half-way. At least it is giving me a warning to make sure it goes back to rest, rather than leaving it to overheat. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Panel clip part numbers in red text halfway down this page.

When you put the boot side/s trim panel back on, there is one panel clip sort of by itself in the middle. Make sure this one lines up & clips into its hole otherwise it will squeak & forever be irritating. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Hi there.

I have a similar problem - did you ever track down the cause? Only evident now in the cold mornings..... Ian.

Yes I suspect a cut filament on the rear window. When I activate the rear window heater, there is a place that remains with some fog.

On my previous MY10 XS the rear screen heater always caused radio interference - it was one or the other, a perfect de-mist and no radio or radio and no de-mist. Happily, the heated mirrors did the job so the rear screen heater was rarely used.

I've noticed that the lowest filament seems to be discoloured which may be causing a high resistance. Possibly repair paint may fix it. Ian.
