SDD - Diagnostic Adapter

Mongoose, VXDiag, VCI, DA-Dongle, VCI-DOIP? There are quite a few diagnostic adapters available for SDD.

Which one is right for you? Well it depends, but here is my quick overview of the different options;

Personally I use a genuine DA-Dongle.

I use a clone Mongoose, does not miss a beat but it was a lot of "Hail Marys" at the beginning. The supply charger is also a critical link IMO.

Vanny, that’s a great explanation of the pros and cons of the various SDD hardware options. Maybe if I’d read it first I wouldn’t have gone for the Mongoose clone, but I did and I used it successfully to programme a new key and for the modifications to the instrument display that Alex Pescaru provided for us. It might be helpful to do an article on the versions of SDD available and where to find them as the hardware on its own won’t do much.

I also used the mongoose clone and had a laptop dedicated for its use.
I was also very careful when 1st using but managed a few mods and repairs using it.
When I changed to the Evoque I bought a BT Gap IID tool which is very simple to use via my phone.

Joe Fix it until it's broke !
