good morning all,

so after trying to find the right size torx for removing the seats and turning to this site for help, I ordered the part I needed this morning.

While waiting for this to arrive I decided to tackle another job I have been putting of which is the tailgate switch replacement, so I got the trim stripped of and removed the first 2 bolts but the other 2 are just spinning and when trying to feel from the out side it feels like it is spinning from the inside when turning the nut.

any ideas how to remove this or will it be a complete replacement and cut the other nuts off?

Nothing like the LR causing me problems on small fixes after 3 weeks of ownership, love the car just want the niggly bits fixed.

I did mine the other day. Didn't bother with removing any trim - I simply jammed a screwdriver through the old rubber membrane of the switch, and removed it from the tailgate - a little fiddly, but only took a few minutes.
I then cut and spliced the wires from old to new, and popped it back in place.
Took me twenty minutes max.
Disconnect the battery first though!!

I had the same issue of spinning fixings in the tailgate handle with my previous FL2, in this case though I had already bought a complete rear handle assy because the switch wasn't available as a separate part at that time.

I had to resort to pushing a wedge between the handle and tailgate as I turned the nut from the inside, in the end, the complete threaded brass bush came away from the handle because of corrosion on the nut. In my case it wasn't a problem because I had a spare handle anyway.

I thought it might Come to just getting a new assemble, so ordered one this morning, I'll try the wedge thing when I come to remove it once the part arrives and if the weather holds up  Dave

I'd recommend a plastic wedge of the sort used for trim removal, quite thin at the end and not scratchy
