I did mine the other day. Didn't bother with removing any trim - I simply jammed a screwdriver through the old rubber membrane of the switch, and removed it from the tailgate - a little fiddly, but only took a few minutes.

I had the same issue of spinning fixings in the tailgate handle with my previous FL2, in this case though I had already bought a complete rear handle assy because the switch wasn't available as a separate part at that time.

I thought it might Come to just getting a new assemble, so ordered one this morning, I'll try the wedge thing when I come to remove it once the part arrives and if the weather holds up Dave |

I'd recommend a plastic wedge of the sort used for trim removal, quite thin at the end and not scratchy |

There are photos behind trim panels in this thread which maybe of help since you are ripping the car apart.
