I guess holding on for a .e depends on the main type of driving that you do. For example if mainly urban, wait for the .e, if motorway/A-roads don't bother waiting.

The .e version is the stop/start engine system, which stops the engine when you stop, and starts it again when you press the clutch pedal.

It's meant to be a standard across the board update to all TD4's. Same engine, just an update to the software with hardware updates behind the scens including a hardier starter motor to cope with the extra stress, battery monitor stuff etc. (i.e. if you turn the air con on or pull too much electric whilst it's stopped it will automatically start again to power it, same with break vacuum pressure etc.) Also has a new dash informant in that it advises you which gear to be in according to current revs etc.

If you've just done a deposit on a NEW FL2, and if it's a manual shift, it will automatically be a TD4_e anyway. And just so you'd know, it 'll be MY 2010 already. so you timing is ideal. |

Think you will have to specify it. I spoke to my dealer today and they advised that they will start building/making the TD4_e this month to be ready for May/June. If you have ordered an FL2 you will have to wait until then or take a current stock model.

First of all, the engine does not turn off everytime you stop. Your car must be in neutral and the clutch released so If you keep your car in gear it wont shut off.

Like you I am only going by what the dealer stated to me this morning when I called regarding whether my order would be TD4-e or straight TD4. The answer was as I mentioned above, and that the SE and HST models would not exist and the line-up would be S, GS, XS, HSE and they would split the extras between models. He said that all current offers would not apply and that prices would reflect the additional extras each model will now have. It must be that we Brits get the short straw!!!! |

The range is different here in Belgium We have an E S SE HSE that's it. The importer created an SX-version which is an S with some extra features, but that seems no longer available, as well as the special price (€34K fo a €38K car).
