Exactly.

Maybe the only true figures are
How many dead and how many people live here. ( if we even know how many people live here!)
............minus how many where expected to die of flu/pneumonia anyway

Impossible to know how many have had it and recovered.

This is true, the only solid figure will be mortality per capita eventually..........even the official figures are (in medical circles) known to be clever estimates, keep safe out there. Regards

I'd be very surprised if she was intubated and ventilated. It would be a highly questionable decision to subject a 102 year old with pnuemonia to the horrors of ICU under normal circumstances let alone at a time when ICU resources are stretched like never before. Jules

Who would be a Doctor in these coming weeks - or any health care professional?

Playing god must get tiresome, who gets care, who do we leave to die?

Coming from a husband who's wife has been told that she is effectively on her own - the cancer is being left to do as it wishes, as cancer treatment has been cancelled in preference to covid-19.

Oh and if she/we get covid, then there will be no intensive treatment, just pain relief and let nature take it's course.

To all those who think that it can't happen to them, and are flouting the safe distance rules, thanks.

I'm no longer scared of getting the virus, she has probably 6 months to go irrespective - and what can be worse than loosing your only friend. Still trying to avoid the virus, because we have a responsibility to those who provide essential services. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Thanks for your thoughts guys,

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the choices that were made or the people that made them, do you use your resources to extend the life of someone by a few months (or even a year) or do you save the life of someone with probably decades to go. Its a reasonable choice, I don't have to like it, just glad I am not the one making the decisions.

So yes I am upset, angry even,

Could be worse, I could have ripped the kitchen out two weeks ago .... if we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Well, someone has to make these very difficult decisions - a group of healthcare professionals are probably the best to do so IMO Jules

Both my sister and niece (her daughter) work at one of the major hospitals in Birmingham. They are both worried as so many staff members are off sick leaving too few staff to cope. My sister also states that the hospitals are full of the same demographic of people. The same demographic who seem to refuse to stay away from places of worship.
Birmingham has the highest number of Covid19 cases outside of the capital. I wonder why ?
