Home > Technical > Power Steering Issue - heavy at tick-over |

Need some help here please. At tick over my power steering appears to be very very heavy, yet at normal running (increased revs) it is fine. The car has had a new steering rack in July 19 and a new power steering pump in Aug 19. (I was not the owner when this was fitted) Looking through this forum I noticed some posts saying that the PAS reservoir filter can become blocked causing the above. So I have had the reservoir changed and the PAS fluid flushed out and replaced, but it appears the problem is still here. It feels as though the belt is loose if i put it in full lock (particularly turning right) the steering feels as though it is pulsating, although the belt feels tight. Has anyone had anything similar and can pass on some advice? - Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're running out of things to replace!

Can you see flow eddys in the reservoir at tick over when you take the lid off? |

Difficult to say with the vibration from the engine, but yes there maybe a flow eddy in the reservoir. |
