Power washer

Hi I am looking to get a decent power washer and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations?
I used to have a Karcher one which was pretty good but then I read the Halfrauds ones are good in that you fill up the detergent thingy inside the unit?

Any advice welcome Thumbs Up

i have a Karcher KB5050 with twin detergent dispensers, bought it on eBay as a reconditioned one, and have only had to replace the High pressure hose pipe due to me snagging it (and the plastic thing this connected too when i broke it repairing it Evil or Very Mad )

But to be honest I only use the dispensers when i can be bothed to top them up with rinsing agent to help the water sheet off the car

When i have tried them with soap, the thicker stuff would not get sucked up the tube, so i got some Auto Glym pressure washer soap (a watery detergent), was okay, but since it mixes it with water it was really watery, so i reverted back to the bucket method.

I suppose it all depends on your washing method, and what else its going to be used for

I blew a tiny karcher one up washing down a load of brick work and driveway, where my larger one has had no problem doing the same job numerous times.

The KB6060 also has a reel that the HP hose coils back onto, and all the gun and hose adatpter go back into the casing too, so you don't have reels of hose everywhere (nice and neat in the garage) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

This one will wash the car and shoot the seagulls down.

Do not buy a power washer on its max pressure , get one with the highest water volume you can, pressure is irrelevant without a good flow of water. Take it from someone who has sent many happy hours pressure washing, I have now seen the light and contract that job out Twisted Evil . At work

I've owned a number of pressure washers over the years and would certainly subscribe to the comments CG made about volume and pressure. I tend to view the on board tanks as a bit of a novelty (as per NP's comments). For really effective car washing I think the best combination is a powerwasher with a good volume AND a high pressure detergent dispenser that fits on the lance. I think NP has this combination? In fact I was just about to post a question asking NP about which high pressure detergent dispenser he uses? Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... I got mine from a company called autobrite including 5l of super snow foam for £60

http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/shop/prod...ts_id=2243

Super snow foam (1" in bottom of the 1L bottle) gives a great whipped cream foam aswell

I know a few other companies that sell them too, but all seem to be online

If any of you clean freaks are ever in the neighbourhood and fancy another FL2 to wash for a change, feel free to pop round to mine Smile

There might even be a pint in it, but it seems the pleasure of the job is enough judging by some of the posts...

I must admit, I hate any sort of cleaning in the house, but I do get a bizarre sense of satisfaction after I have cleaned the motor inside and out.
