Bluetooth phone connectivity issue/question

Hi All,

I had a question about the in car bluetooth system after a month of owning my new 2010 freelander 2 XS.

I have noticed that sometimes when I push the phone button either on the dash or wheel that I cannot select the phone menu (my phone isn’t connected) What I mean is it’s like the buttons aren’t working , I can’t bring up the option to search for devices etc.

After experimenting I’ve figured out this happens if I’ve turned the engine off with entertainment system on I.e radio running etc.
On the next time I turn the engine etc the radio will automatically kick in but I can’t select the phone option.

If I turn the entertainment system off using the power button before the engine is turned off then when I start the engine next time I can turn on the entertainment system and select the phone option no problem.
A side issue is my phone doesn’t seem to connect without me doing this routine and actually selecting the phone option when I first start the car.

My question is, is this just a quirk of the system with it being an older one. Or is this an error I can get corrected?

Thanks;

There is a known issue with leaving the radio and phone on when turning off causing a battery drain, it was supposed to have been fixed by a software update but not everyone has had the update installed. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

Thanks for you response, I don’t think it’s the battery drain issue as I haven’t experienced and battery issues yet.
It’s more the button on the dash for the phone just randomly not working. I don’t think I have ever managed to just get in the car and have the phone just auto connect like it did in my old car.
It’s not the end of the world so I’m happy to live with it, I just wondered if it was a common issue that had an easy fix.
