Apple CarPlay with Xtrons head unit

Has anyone got Apple CarPlay running on the Xtrons headunit and, if so, what did you use to make the connection? And secondly, if an iPhone is connected and using CarPlay is it still possible to make and receive calls using the factory Bluetooth system via the radio and using the buttons on the wheel to start and end calls?

I don't have the details at hand but using the latest carlinkit from aliexpress. Works pretty well - and it's wireless! For calls I keep the phone connected to the car Bluetooth too. Sometimes calls go straight to it, sometimes I switch manually. Not a major hassle. All in all a good experience. MY2011, TD4 Auto, Xenon headlights, fog lamps DRLs, sunroof, tinted windows, almond electric seats w/ lumbar support, leather steering wheel w/ audio controls, dog/luggage guard, ambient lights, flush Whispbars, Mantec sump&tank guards, Xtrons Head Unit

I got a reply from Xtrons who said that their CP02 dongle offers what they call ‘Car Auto Play’ for iPhones which operates the same as Apple CarPlay but they can’t use that term as to do so would infringe Apple copyright. They also said that when connected via their Car Auto Play, the iPhone can still be used with the factory Bluetooth setup to make and receive calls if preferred.

So it looks like the Xtrons head unit plus their CP02 dongle could be the way to go
