So my 2007 freelander 2 is cranking fine, but just wont start. Had a friend think it was the Glow Plugs so had them replaced.

But while putting it back together, i think the fuel lines going to the fuel filter may not have been connected properly. When taking another look a day or so after, it seems like no fuel is even getting to the filter whatsoever.

Does this mean, bad fuel pump? Or air in the system and just needs bleeding/priming?

If its the fuel pump, where is it in the 2007 fl2?

Do a search, there are threads regarding the pump and IIRC a Land Rover fix
for bad connections.

There are 2 fuel pumps. An electric pump in the tank balancing the two sides of the tank as it straddles the prop shaft. A mechanical pump driven by the cam shaft which supplies filtered high pressure fuel to the injectors. There is no lift pump, you have to make sure that you’ve bled the air out of the feed line and fuel filter using a vacuum pump or you’ll have problems getting combustion. There are instructions for bleeding the filter on the forum if you use the search function.

So its unlikely to be a pump problem by the sounds of it.

Should no fuel actually get pushed through the pipes (before it reaches the fuel filter)?

Is it more the mechnical pump that pulls it through (after the filter)?

There is no push up from the fuel tank pump, that just makes sure that the feed line in the tank is below the fuel level. The high pressure pump at the cam shaft will only suck fuel, doesn’t like air, which is why it is so important that the feed line and fuel filter are bled properly. Also needs to be a good quality fuel filter.

Manage to bleed through the filter ok, however getting no fuel out of the injectors now...
