Hoping for a bit of advice please.

I have a 2007 FL2 manual which has done 90k miles.

I pulled out of a junction and started to accelerate up a hill when the engine went into limp mode. I had the reduced engine performance message come up on the dash and after a few yards the car stalled completely. I tried to restart it within no joy. After a couple of minutes it did restart briefly but would only crawl for a yard or 2 before stalling again.

I called the AA out who ran a diagnostic but looked like loads of codes had been triggered so difficult to pinpoint the issue. I. The end got recovered home.

Now it will turn over absolutely fine but will not fire at all.

In the weeks leading up to it I had experienced the odd sudden jolt associated with the crank position sensor so I replaced that thinking it would sort it but it’s made no difference. I’ve also fitted an additional earth strap in the hope it would be a cheap fix and also fitted a new fuel filter.

I’ve taken the high pressure fuel pump off and the crankshaft condition is good with no sign of it shearing.

What would you suggest as my next step?

What fault codes came up.

What make of crank shaft sensor did you fit.

I don’t have the codes to hand as the AA haven’t emailed them to me yet.

From memory there were about 10 codes including crank position sensor, communication between engine control unit and immobiliser, internal control module torque control, air flow solenoid position sensor, internal control module fuel injection, camshaft position sensor.

The crank position sensor is made by Intermotor.

As a quick relatively cheap test try another sensor. As part of my preventative maintenance I changed mine with one off e bay. it didn't work so I put my old one back on and she fired up. I have since replaced it with a Valeo one.

I had exactly the same problem with my '08 TD4. 2 weeks ago when my wife came back from Scotland in it, 200 mile run, no problems.
Next day would not start. Engine cranking over normally but no attempt to fire up.
Ran the battery flat, so on charge and try again.
Same thing.
But two messages came up as it cranked: Reduced engine performance followed by DHC fault/error.
This forum then came to my rescue.
I did a search with those two fault messages and it brought up a thread with a similar fault with AA called out and diagnosed Crank Shaft Position sensor fault.
Nipped down to Europarts in Wigan, picked one up for £29.
Fitted it and fired first time.
Also before this I had been suffering the dreaded driving stutter.
This has not re-occurred since fitting new CSP sensor.
