I used to use washing up liquid with several flushes to get oil out of the cooling system. Oh, and a 3/4 socket set - how big/tight are the nuts then? (I’m assuming that was a typo).  Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Oil cooler the culprit, now successfully changed by an amateur! Workshop manual says go in from below after removing aircon condenser and throttle body, but I went in from above after removing the fuel filter and its huge housing, workshop manual still essential to locate the bolts for everything as you're working blind. Thanks for guidance from forum members and a big thanks to whoever posted the workshop manual.

On the subject of flushing the coolant system, I've used a central heating flushing agent in the past ( Fernox or Sentinal) with success.
But then I would being a Gasman.  Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
