Looking to buy a compression test kit but very unsure what fits the Freelander 2 2.2TD engine. Most kits seem to come with screw in type dummy injectors and some with a clamp which I doubt would fit. Anybody bought one that can confirm fits? Obviously looking for some cheap and cheerful as its not going to be used much.....I hope! 2010 FL2 TD4 GS |

I'll check my Icarsoft code scanner again to see what it can do with regards live engine values. I believe some scanners can display what they call cylinder contribution which gives you some idea of cylinder condition/compression. The nice thing about physical diagnosis is that it mostly gives clear evidence of the fault without the need for interpretation. It's easy to record cylinder pressures on a gauge and from that know for sure if you have a compression problem.
Thats OK if you want to throw $$$ at the problem. A garage with the gear and more importantly the someone that REALLY knows what there doing with it is going to charge a fair bit just to check compression and come up with a diagnosis. For my part I want to know what the compression is like and which cylinders if any are low before I decided what to do with the car. At the end of the day I may need to take a hit and get the car to a garage "someone that knows what there doing" but in such an event I want to be armed with as much info as possible to a) allow garage to pinpoint problem quickly and b) know when I'm being "fed a line" So back to original question: Nobody bought a cheap compression tester that they know works on a 2.2TD Freelander 2 ???? 2010 FL2 TD4 GS |

couldn't agree more that finding a garage that actually knows what they are doing is a challenge.

For other engines, in LR's court, yes. But for FL2, I, for one, didn't find these informations, even if the SDD claims to show them. No way... It shows you the injections' coding values, but no LIVE values. |

Couple of options - but prob cheapest is to use one of these and test by glowplug adapter, downside is really need to remove inlet manifold ( which means gaskets) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-17-pc-Diese...Sw1ZBUsMNc |
