Jack kit

Hi,

Having seen a few old posts about jack kits, I'm wondering if you still have any available for shipping to Scotland? I've managed to get a full size alloy spare, so now need the jack, wheel brace, and retaining bolt. Trying to replace the "instant mobility kit" that came with the car.

Incidentally, according to the sticker on the back of my car, at some point in the past it came from you guys!

Thanks,

Matthew

Not looking to do Duckworths out of any business, but if you are starting with nothing, you might be better with a generic bottle jack and a decent socket and handle rather than the factory-fitted jack and wheel brace. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Agreed, that sounds a perfectly sensible approach. I have been keeping eye on the usual, gumtree, eBay, etc, but no luck. I'm out in the sticks so have a bit of a trek to the nearest breakers, and to be honest I'm too busy and too lazy to bother with the phoning around/driving out to them.

I did consider that, but kept coming back to convenience - the factory jack will secure in place with the retaining bolt, so everything sits nice and secure. If I buy a generic bottle jack etc, I give myself more work concocting something to hold it all in place to stop it rattling around the boot. Plus if I ever come to sell the car it'll look obvious I've been replacing bits. I was lucky enough that the car came with full land rover original mats, boot liner, even key ring (from some company called Duckworth, whoever they are Wink ), I kind of like the idea of keeping parts original.

Dan, thanks very much for the quote. As was mentioned in the thread, someone else has a spare jack going, so I'm making arrangements to get that. Could you re-quote me for just the retaining bolt and wheel brace?

First time speaking to you and I'm being the awkward customer already! Rolling Eyes

You will also need to expanded polystyrene block that holds everything still and goes under the spare wheel.

I will check the postage costs for the jack over the weekend and let you know in a PM. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

My wife's car doesn't have the foam, the jack is just bolted directly to the car, hence my request for the retaining bolt. Does your jack not have a small eyelet welded on to the handle for the bolt to pass through?

Yes it does but the foam is much better at holding everything else still. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

Never had a problem in that regard (in wife's car). The wheel brace clips to the jack, and the trusty elastic band holds it all snug.
