Yes, I have been to Driffield. its a 'varied' show. Last time I went, the Liverpool G-Stars crossed the M62 and send their kids in to kick a load of traders goods during the night. Police called and they stopped the 'Transits' at the slip road onto the M62 westbound. Next morning the police brought back all the traders goods ........ and the show went on.

Great week-end. Thumbs Up

Peterborough, I go most years, as its the BEST show of the LR Show calendar. Very Happy Very Happy

Billing (Northampton) use to be good, as it is a 'social scene' ..... been for 24 of the 27 (?) years it ran. Now split in two shows, Billing 'Farmers Field' Show and Kelmarsh [which I have never attended]

.

We did the Kelmarsh show last year and thought it more of a land rover car boot sale, nothing like Peterborough. Is the driffield show worth a look?

In the past I ran the Freelander Club (not to be confessed with the Freelander OWNERs Club - on facebook).

I mainly ran the shows part of the club.

April we would attend - Malvern
May - Driffield and Gaydon
June - Eastnor Castle and Bath/West show
July - Billing
August - Stonleigh
Sept - Peterborough

We had a show (some times two) a month, which took a very long weekend to set up/show/breakdown ..........

Times change, promoters change, venues change, LR 'enthusiasts' chance .......... and time goes on ..........

Only Peterborough survived ....... Thumbs Up

Remembering that Kelmarsh has only run for 2 years, as has Billing 'Farmers Field' (although this venue ran along side the main Billing show for many many years) ........... when Billing Aquadrome closed to 'Club Shows'

I would attend the Billing show for a week !

Kelmarsh. Give it a chance. I've been to both shows and had it not persisted it down both times, I reckon it would've been great. I'll be booking again this year.
Peterborough - no electric hook-up. A bit of a bummer when it gets dark - or chilly. Strange, but the first time I attended Peterborough, I thought that was crap. Only attend for the day now. Don't think I'll bother this year. Too far , no Freelander 2 parts.
Oh, and I was threatened with violence and called homophobic names at Peterborough too,in the club house infront of security guards. One basically shrugged his shoulders and told me to do one before I got my head kicked in. Gang of muppets who thought as I didn't sport a shaved head, that meant I was gay. Strange also how some drunk chav drove his Disco 2 at high speed through the camping area at night, the plunging into the pond, having to be winched out, was never even given a rollocking by the same security guards, despite protests by campers who wanted him evicted from the site. Wrote to LRO Magazine but never received a reply. Strange that.
In total contrast, the first Kelmarsh show, a Dutch contingent were ejected after spoiling for a fight. They eventually picked on a father who had his kids with him, knocking his beer from his hand, then throwing punches at him. They were sent packing from the beer tent and we never saw them again.

It's a possibility. It all depends on whether I can get the time off or not.

Sorry for the VERY slow reply!!

Yes, I've displayed my Disco at both. They were good but Peterborough is still my favourite. 👍
