As a matter of interest how do they test the hand brake (electric type) on the MOT?

it will release when you drive away but....... best too do it manually (quick press) otherwise you get an annoying chime & warning!!

No chime or Warning on mine except first drive off on a journey then only sometimes not every-time. Yet another case of the FL2 computer doing its own thing.

They test them on the powered rollers as you would a manual hand brake. Just be careful they don’t get ejected too quick! Bob 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone) 08 FL2 TD4 SE Manual in Rimini Red (Now Gone) |

You just apply it like you would a normal handbrake when its in the rollers BUT, like most 4WD vehicles, you must use the brake testing machine in 4WD mode where the wheels will rotate in opposite directions otherwise you could do a bit of damage! If my brakes have been on (EHB or Footbrake) and the car is on a slope, I cannot use the trickle forward, and the car can move a bit sudden, as I apply some accelerator.
