I just use any decent 'Dot 4' brake fluid. That link you posted is for power steering fluid, don't think its the same. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Pentosin CHF 202 is for the power steering not the brakes. The brakes fluid needs to be dot4 but it also needs to be type LV (Low Viscosity).

Snappa,

For power steering fluid Land Rover Recommends

Pentosin CHF 202

Searching the Pentosin literature will show that Pentosin 11S is forwards and backwards compatible with Pentosin 202

I personally use the 202

Normally I don't recommend that you use something else.

However the link that you gave indicates that the fluid is recommended for applications requiring 202 or 11S.

It should be fine (for the power steering)

One last thought: the reservoir has a filter screen in the bottom and the fluid breaks down over time, both should be replaced every 50,000 miles or so. I mention this because I never add fluid to my reservoir between service intervals. Do you know why you need to add fluid?

If you are thinking about changing the fluid and reservoir let me know and I will post a link to a different thread.

Good Luck

Paul

I've used Febi 06161, because it's more obtainable here.
Even if it's more like CHF 11S than CHF 202, Pentosin says that these are fully compatible and mixable.

PS: Eventually edit the topic's title in order to not confuse the readers... Very Happy Very Happy

Sorry chaps thats it edited now. It just needs topped up a bit, it's sitting slightly above the min mark but I don't seem to be losing fluid through any drips etc. Will top up and see.
Thanks again Thumbs Up

Exactly the same with my case.
On cold engine it was just a bit below lower/min mark. I've added about 50 ml and now, on hot engine it is just a little over the upper/max mark.
Not a problem since then, about 2 years ago, with this Febi 06161.
I've bough it because I've needed to top up on a VW Polo too, where is an electo-hydraulic steering system. Also not a problem since topping up.

Rather than top up give it a flush out. Sequence shown and described via search button. It can be done with just 1 litre of oil you are probably purchasing anyway. It will love you for it. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

As CHF 11s is more easily available in my place, is it OK to use this one instead of the CHF202??

Mr Rover 75,

I wouldn't hesitate to use the Pentosin 11S

When I researched it I found the following information

From Pentosin: "NOTE: CHF 11S and CHF 202 are fully compatible and mixable. Pentosin CHF fluids should not be mixed with ATF fluids."

If my memory is correct the 11s is more expensive to manufacturer and Pentosin wanted a lower cost alternative and it came up with the 202. (Cost savings for me at retail price is about 10% to 20%)

And the only thing that I could find performance wise is that the 11s has a lower viscosity in extreme cold.

It doesn't get cold here so I use the 202. (Note: the difference is very small and not something I would think about unless you live inside the artic circle)

If the 11s was on sale and cheaper then I would buy it instead.

Good Luck

Paul

For a FL2 you need no more than one small container of it in years so apart from being available price should not really be much of a factor. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current
