Hello,
The door seal attached to the body, not to the door, is torn on my FL2,driver's side, and I need to replace it. How do I replace it? I know 'in the old days' that the old seal simply pulled off, and there was a metal strip in the rubber moulding that was pushed over the seam, but is that the case now?

Take the one off at the other side to see how it fits

OK, back to the question. If no one gives you a definitive answer s you will need to buy a new one get hold of that and see how it looks and make your decision from there. A dealer parts manual / screen should show any dedicated fitting clips and it may come with them. Ask Dan for a quote and any advice he can throw in re clips. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Replacing the seal is very easy

First find the seam it’s likely in the location shown below

Then use an appropriate tool to lift the seal





I replaced mine and the new one is already starting to show some wear




I do warn you that once you start replacing things it becomes a slippery slope

There is probably a template so it sits in the right position on the door, there is no indication on the metal of the exact position the seal would sit. One of my rubber seals came away & was replaced by LR.

I would mark on the door with marker pen & or masking tape as thoroughly as possible beforehand before you remove the old one so you can position the new one.

Edit: should have read it more clearly. The seal on the body is easy. I had to remove mine to do wiring. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks. I knew how they fitted on older cars (1970’s)but not sure one later ones. Doesn’t seem to have changed much.
