none starting fault

Hi Could anyone tell me if a secondhand instrument cluster off the well known auction site needs to be programmed to the car?
I have the code suggesting this is at fault causing the steering lock to not engage.(software update and new lock fitted) quote from my indy insists on a virgin unit at £900 by the time labour and software are added this will push what I have paid in repair near the value of the car so I wondered if this is something I could do myself? any thoughts appreciated

Subscribing to this thread, I am pretty sure someone with the answer will be along shortly but I think the cluster will likely have to be coded/matched/registered to the FL2 with SDD.

At the very least I would think it would have to have the VIN re-programmed & be synced with the BCU. Which ever IPAC/BCU has the higher mileage, is what you will end up with. Unless you have access to all the required gear, you will not be able to diy it. Your indy understands all this & is why he will only fit a new unit.
