The service it would have received at a Land Rover dealer or specialist would be the same as any run of the mill car, oil & all the filters it’s the big 10yr service all the gear oils gets changed eg gearbox, diff helix etc along with the water pump & timing belt. Don’t be put off if it’s not a 4x4 specialist it’s not the space shuttle after all |

Are you not able to find one closer to home ? If you buy a pup a few miles away it’s going to be one thing but hundreds is another matter. Unless it’s a Landrover Approved vehicle leave it down South as they are happy to be fleeced

Anyone who can service a Ford can generally service a Freelander , most of the car is from the Ford world parts bin , lots of it will even have FoMoCo stamped on it . The tricky bit is all the electronics and the Haldex , but even the Haldex is known to most garages as it was also used by Ford on Volvo XC , and is commonly used by Volkswagen/Audi on their “ quattro “ cars ( note the real Quattro with a capital Q does not use a Haldex it’s symmetrical ) . So if it’s running fine the service history should not be a problem . Where an independent LR expert comes in is knowing all the electronic gimmickry that makes the whole thing function and having th experience to diagnose an issue . As far as the bumper goes , the reversing sensor is held by a clip on the reverse and unplugs from a wiring loom , they are available as spare parts if it’s damaged . It would be one hell of a shopping trolley to knock one out . You could probably get a rear bumper with all the sensors in from a breaker for £100 - £150 , painting it would be another £150 -£200 . It’s a quick job to get the rear bumper plastic off . If the car has had a real bang , the steel bumper reinforcing will be damaged under the plastic. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles .
