Power Rip off

Just winged at my electrical supplier (a not for profit type) that being ethical is not paying as some competitors paying shareholders are now cheaper.

So this ethical company then tells me they have a cheaper rate saving me around £50 p.a. Funny is it not that I have to do all the ferreting around to find this out and no doubt it was slipped in after my annual statement so we the punter are not aware of it.

Why for Censored sake do we have to go through this every year - Censored all of them Banging Head FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

You're right. I thought there was legislation in place whereby they had to offer the cheapest rates. However, I use things like "The Big Deal" and "Uswitch" to find the best rates at the time. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

My daughter and her boyfriend have a joint car insurance policy, for her Fiesta 1.6D and his Audi A4 1.8 TFSI.

In February he had a low speed accident on ice, that damaged the radiator, bumper etc. He had to pay £500 excess which he knew about obviously.

Their renewal last month was increased by £700 due to the claim taking it to £2600 despite them both having 4 years no claims each (prior to February).

the cost of the repair was £1700 meaning the insurance only had to pay out £500 if they renewed the policy.

After 10 mins on the phone my daughter had got them to reduce the renewal by £1000 with very little argument.

why they couldn't have just offered them the lowest price to start off with is ridiculous Banging Head

u-switch is something to watch out for, there "savings" are misleading

I have just been looking about 4 months ago, as my contract was ending, the savings are not based on savings from your current tariff, its savings from what the suppier would put you on to when it ends. i.e the standard tariff.

So they saying your saving £500, but in fact the saving is closer to £50-£100 if your lucky. the saving between the current tariff and the newer tariff you'll switch too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The" lowest" tariff is based on the cost per day on that day, it may be cheaper but not over the year, you need to bet on there being no price increases over the time you have the contract. So yes there is a cheaper tariff, but may not be cheaper over the year, even MSE's Energy Club gives prices compared with a variable tariff not a fixed price tariff which you may choose as a bet against inflation, either real, government or energy companies "inflation" vaguely based on the wholesale price in heavily their favour. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
