Wonder if anyone can kindly help me. I’m needing to get my new plates trimmed down this weekend. The current private reg is on with pads and I don’t want to remove it just to attach more tape to re-apply it and then take it off again in a few days when the new V5 arrives, plus it’ll be more cleaning to do.

Can anyone every so kindly who has the rear number plated screwed on check the distance apart from the left screw head to the right screw head. If you can measure it id would help me out.

The rear tailgate has factory holes with grommets so they all locate at the same fixing points.

Just measured mine and rear grommets are 400mm centres. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Hate screwed on plates, so naff. Sticky pads preferred or, if standard plate sizes, the German style plate holders/frames. LR have a habit of using special sizes for rear plates, so that’s not an option. I understand your issue, Nut, but not for me.

Thank you, Sorry I don’t think I explained very well. I am having a 4 digit plate 2x2 dateless reg put on the vehicle. I’m hoping that when trimming it down it will cover the hexangonal holes?

Could you please measure even with the plate left on the distance between the two number plate fixing screws.

Sorry,may be me here but do you mean from edge of number plate to screw or from hole to hole centres?

Don't really know what a 4 digit plate 2x2 dateless reg is so that doesn't help  If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Mines 230mm.

TBH, using a small plate just big enough to accommodate your digits (say “LR 88” for instance) is going to look lost on that space. Far better to have the LR specced plate size with your digits on that. Just my thoughts.

Thanks folks for the measurements. The V5 documents with the original plate arrived in late afternoon post yesterday which came as a surprise as I was speculating Tuesday. I only took my other private reg of on Wednesday at 17.30 and by Saturday the V5 had arrived.

I’ve now taken the plate of and the dimentions I’m getting is 23cm from centre of hex hole to centre of hex hole.
