Oil change due ( by my reckoning) resetting displays

Hi all
I’ve just coming up on 10000 miles since I bought my freelander and will be doing an oil change soon. It’s a 2014 model with updated dash. There are no service messages displayed. When I do the oil change can I reset the service indicator albeit that it’s not on and not technically “due” a service? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I can’t see why not - surely a dealer would reset it as part of a service even if it wasn’t showing. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Your car, so you should get to decide what reminders it gives you! I changed the engine oil on mine at 5K miles after purchase and now changed oil and all the filters at 15k from purchase, which was 90k miles on the clock, so have now reset the service warning. It means that the car is now on its correct service schedule, even if it wasn’t before. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

How do I actually do it though as there is no service message displayed? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I would do the service of your choice and then wait for the indicator to show later and then clear it using the Brazilian technique (and it does work).

Meanwhile as you wait for it to popup Wink think of this and what technique would be needed. Whistle

Your other thread refers to your Nanocom, would it have the functionality to do the Service reset? I used a GAP IIDTool (although I do feel I am missing out on the Brazilian experience!) 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

You have to remember to reset both items, being service time and DPF burn. Using the Brazilian method mine has not shown up needing a service or oil change yet so I feel it clears both those when once using it.

Must fly, thinking of going to Brazil. Very Happy FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
