Hi all looking for some advice. The heater Core on one of my FL2’s has sprung a leak, ho joy. So I am in the process of taking the dash to pieces. There a couple of things I am not sure of. Is it straight forward to remove the alloy pipes from the core it self or is there some kind of trick. Also if I remove the gear selection unit after taking the pipes off will I be able to lift the heater core out of the heating unit. Any other tips would be great (lets keep to FL2's )

how often do you top up the water in the cars header tank and by how much ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I am sure that you know what you are doing but are you certain that it's a heater matrix leak and not the air con pipe blocked in the driver's footwell ? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

as fast as you put the water in the header tank it's coming out from behind the heat sheild in the center of the car. The engine has use's about 1L in 8 miles. There are no holes in the floor and all the door seals are ok and no susn roof. Also the wonderful smell of Ethylene glycol. Still the carpet is out had a wash just needs a good sunny day.

So found the heater core in the blackness of the dash. Turned out that someone had worked on it before and not put the clip back right that held the pipe on. For some reason 3 years down the line it let go. Still all back together now pressure tested looks fine, here's hoping.
