On the whole FL2s are quite reliable, this doesn't look like a LR problem to me.

They were bought from a motorfactors on ebay. So yes ok ebay does have a bad reputation in some respects but if the seller has sold a load of dodgy gaskets then surely others would have experienced this aswel?

The reason they failed is pretty obvious, they were cheap parts not manufactured to the correct standard. Your original ones that were in situ prior to you doing the glow plugs no doubt didn't suffer this. Sometimes buying cheap ends up costing more, I would suggest you buy genuine parts next time. |

Obviously cheap tat. Would I be wrong in guessing that you, like other buyers of these seals, didn't/haven’t left negative feedback for others as a warning? There’s your answer! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

For all four to go in the same way one has to question the manufacture. Im sure you installed them properly. How much cheaper are the Ebay ones compared to the OEM ? Ive bought loads of car stuff from Ebay over the years (only UK sellers though) and had only few minor issues . Can you let us know the seller you obtained those rings from so we can avoid a similar mistake. Many thanks. Jules |

Shame that these failed and one hopes its not down to being seated incorrectly as you may have the same problem again. No done them so no idea if they can be fitted in a particular way or if the holding face can distort them if tightened more on one side than the other.

Leftofcentre When trying to help, my approach is -- What was your plan or what are you trying to achieve? What has happened and what clues have you found? What help or information are you looking for that will help you to solve the problem? You said Not very reliable these Freelanders are they.... ive had less hassle with a Mondeo! I thought that one clue was this statement about the unreliabilty that you have experienced, so I looked up your previous posts and could find no real evidence, although of course you may have information that you have not disclosed. Your profile gives no further clues to how long you have owned the FL2 before 4th Feb 2018 when you joined. Perhaps some kind of history of your problems, and work on the car, would help us. Sorry to have upset you. PS - the more I look at the FL2 (and most other modern cars) systems the more I believe it is Rocket Science. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |

Gor blimey Guv, talk about unlucky. I have had my FL2 since Aug 2010 at 36k and have now done 95k. In that time I have replaced the throttle body and apart from routine maintenance (including discs and pads) that's it! Oh I did have some trouble with the radio and had to fit a new one, but that failure was down to a badly fitted aftermarket hands free kit. I think I have done ok! |
