I was told by a by a LR Indi Mechanic not to jump start an FL2 because it could cause problems with the electronic stuff.

Early cars can benefit with a extra earth lead to the starter motor fitment area, factory fitted on later cars. Pictures are on here if you search

The Freelander manual that came with my car gives the standard jump start procedure. So LR have no issues with jump starting or they would not put it in there. I have jump started a handful of cars with the Freelander. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This jogged my memory of another thread on here some time ago. I think it was a default safety setting when something had blown. Sorry but I can't help beyond that. Although, you say you've checked the fuses, there are several fuse boxes around the car. Have you checked them all? MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |

i checked fuses in all three fuse boxes, well the ones that seemed relevant.

you must not use the neg terminal to jump start on modern vehicles,allways the engine as an earth,if you use the neg terminal the ecu will not recognize the flat battery and will not charge properly as you will of by passed the sensor on the neg terminal;so when you swith off ,battery is still flat.strickly speaking you should run the slave vehicle to charge the batt for 20mins,then switch both off,and get the vehicle to start under its own power.this also reduces the chance of a voltage spike if disconnecting leads while engine is running.sometimes these rules go out the window,and 90%ofthe time it will be ok ,but then there is the odd occasion when you will spike one of the ecu's or body control units and get all sorts of problems,or like the old Vauxhall cavaliers completely blow the main ecu,resulting in non start,and new ecu |

had the OBD II diagnostic tool on it tonight and 0 faults were detected, using a couple of different software tools.
