Random Faults After Jump Start

Hi All,
Got a strange one here, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
2007 GS wouldn't start the other morning, due to what I thought was the cold weather, Everything worked fine previously.
It was trying to turn over so I assumed it wasn't a battery issue, so I started it using the jump leads and my other vehicle. Took it for a good run and thought all was fine.
However, the next time I started it up the faults started.

No indicators,
No Full beam
No rear wiper,
No fog lights,
No screen washer,
Headlights always on when ignition is on, regardless of switch position.

I was advised to change the battery as a dodgy battery can cause these kind of issues. I have done this but it hasn't rectified the issues.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you checked the easy stuff first!

Have you checked the fuses.

Does the car have a second earth lead.

Is there good quality contact on the battery terminals.

Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes (do that while doing the above). Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

morning, cheers for the quick reply.
Fuses have been checked and seem fine,
battery is brand new and terminal appear to be sound.
I have tried the so called ‘hard reset’ too.
not sure regarding the second earth though, can you elaborate?
Thanks.

I was told by a by a LR Indi Mechanic not to jump start an FL2 because it could cause problems with the electronic stuff.

However needs must when the devil drives. I had to jump start mine last week so far no problems are showing.

Sorry Owl I can't help you.

Early cars can benefit with a extra earth lead to the starter motor fitment area, factory fitted on later cars. Pictures are on here if you search

As for your faults any flash of jump starting is probably the reason for this and at best I would suggest you get the fault codes cleared as there could be many now.

On top of that you may need further work like a software relaod, but I will refrain from being too pessimistic. I am basing this on me just blowing one headlamp bulb once and the short / flash loaded the car with fault codes and put me in limp mode. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The Freelander manual that came with my car gives the standard jump start procedure. So LR have no issues with jump starting or they would not put it in there. I have jump started a handful of cars with the Freelander. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This jogged my memory of another thread on here some time ago. I think it was a default safety setting when something had blown. Sorry but I can't help beyond that.
Although, you say you've checked the fuses, there are several fuse boxes around the car. Have you checked them all? MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

i checked fuses in all three fuse boxes, well the ones that seemed relevant.
I’m hoping to get a diagnostic tool on it this evening.

you must not use the neg terminal to jump start on modern vehicles, allways the engine as an earth,if you use the neg terminal the ecu will not recognize the flat battery and will not charge properly as you will of by passed the sensor on the neg terminal;so when you swith off ,battery is still flat.strickly speaking you should run the slave vehicle to charge the batt for 20mins,then switch both off,and get the vehicle to start under its own power.this also reduces the chance of a voltage spike if disconnecting leads while engine is running.sometimes these rules go out the window, and 90%ofthe time it will be ok ,but then there is the odd occasion when you will spike one of the ecu's or body control units and get all sorts of problems,or like the old Vauxhall cavaliers completely blow the main ecu, resulting in non start, and new ecu Evil or Very Mad Big Cry

had the OBD II diagnostic tool on it tonight and 0 faults were detected, using a couple of different software tools.
Scratching my head now!!
Has anyone had any experience of having the ECU flashed or reset or whatever it will need? is it a straight forward job or an expensive one?
