In the end gave up trying to find a nice low mileage full service history metropolis and just put a deposit on a used nice spec bmw 330d touring xdrive. Totally different but should be fun.
Still got a Disco 4 for any serious off road or towing

Still looking for Freelander and have read a few articles about rear diff failure. Can anyone advise whether this was particularly likely to affect certain models? I have seen an advert for a 2011 model for sale that had a rear diff replacement at a cost in excess of £1000. Did this known fault get rectified in later years?

Later cars still had the odd diff failure. Its a bit of a lottery I guess as most will be OK. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Still looking at FL2s from the last two years of production.

Can anyone explain whether 2013 FL2 SD4 HSE will have a HDD or disks to update the satnav? Looked at a couple recently and dealer didn't know what I was talking about?!

Its a very common fault ,mine went at 50k the front transfer box having gone at 42k!!
If you get one thats been repaired make sure its had the uprated bearings fitted. I understand that the MY13 cars had uprated bearing in the rear diffs!

Interesting to hear, you're the second person to tell me the MY13 cars onwards are improved in this way. But how do I tell what MY a car is as so many cars are registered months after being manufactured for various reasons?

My 13 were the first to have led daylight running lights plus upgraded rear lights upgraded instruments steering wheel etc,but it’s the lights that are the most obvious giveaway.

I never knew that MY13 onwards with HDD sat nav could be updated with a disc as well has the USB. Are they the same discs used in the older version sat nav. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green
