Summer holiday Victoria & SA

We drove about 9000km around Victoria & SA.

We went swimming in Mildura to cool off in the 47°C heat. Ironically the air was so dry the water evaporated so quickly off your skin that you felt really cold for 60 seconds or so. Then back into the water to either warm up or cool off!

Leaving Mildura, fire on the way to Wyperfeld NP, made us very nervous!

The ice block thermal mass worked well up to 2 days in the hot weather. We put sleeping bags over fridge during the day when stationary for a few days. A white towel over the fridge while driving. We will make a white cover for the fridge to put over the bought cover. The dark grey bought cover is BS at best, because it is dark!

WOW!
I always look on the pics taken by people in far off lands with envy!

So much space to explore at your leisure.

Pic 3 has made me search my boot for the OE bottles of beer but I haven't found them. Must only have been in the export models!

Information on Little Dip & Long Gully between Beachport & Robe. We were there end of November. The last bit of sand onto the beach was maybe a bit soft and we didn't have any sand tracks with us so we were not going to risk it. We did have a tow rope but were the only car so it's not a lot of help! But the beaches were firm to drive on. Then on to the Coorong

Mate, I've done those beaches down around Beachport and Robe, they are super treacherous, the sand is so soft. I got stuck north of Beachport and the water was lapping my wheels when the SES winched me out.

I had a look at the photos from this area and the sand on most beaches is very aerated. Not a good idea to go on the beaches even if you can get there in the first place!
