I have been doing a lot of searching and it appears to me that this is the best value for money diagnostic tool for the Freelander 2 and it claims to be easy to use and understand:

Does anyone know of a cheaper one that is just as good or even better? I was hoping to just buy a cable and software as I did with my VW and BMW but it does not seem an option for these cars.

Sorry not a cheaper one but..............I have the Foxwell 510 and have used it on my CRV I like it very much. It can be used for up to 5 different makes at an add on cost. I paid just under �50 for the Landrover download

I am planning to pick up a FL2 this weekend, will let you know how the 510 performs.

I have the Foxwell NT510 for my MY2013 Freelander. I�ve only used it so far to reset the service indicators. Seems to be a well-made piece of kit. However, I have an issue that when it is first connected to the diagnostic socket the car displays a Stability Control warning. This has happened on the couple of occasions I�ve used it so far. Seems to reset OK if you go through the menus and doesn�t come on when driven. I contacted Foxwell customer service back in May when I serviced the car but not heard anything back. When I have chased them up all I get is an email reply stating it�s waiting to be looked at by their engineer!
If I hear anything from Foxwell I will update this post.
Seem to remember reading somewhere that the MY2013 can have some weird issues with the cars software. Maybe related?

The Fl2 came home with us this morning and I spent an hour with the 510 code reader. It works fine for me, Lots of tests and re-calibrations on the 510 menu.

The foxwell 510 is usefull, it can pull out generic and modular fault codes and show PIDs in real time also it will reset a lot of the modular settings but will not write to the CCF.


However it being the end of the shooting season I have raided my beating money piggy bank and bought the Gap BT tool.

I can't answer that at this moment in time you see it only arrived this afternoon. It much depends on what you need it for and if you have the money to buy it. In fact you must be a psychic because when you posted I was just opening the jiffy bag.

The iiDBT............It works well. I can tweek some of the features in the CCF and save the CCF file for reloading if I need to. Plus there a a few extra modular teeks with the tool but as far as I can that is the only real advantage over the Foxwell 510.

The iiDBT website shows a very comprehensive list of what can be accessed and changed.

My thinking is why have one scanner when you can have two. The Foxwell 510 and the iiDBT
