I gave up on F1 a few years back. Unless something catastrophic happens the outcome of F1 is now very predictable. It's not about racing any more but seeing who breaks down, crashes or has a bad pit stop. All you need to do is watch Q3 and you can be 90% sure of the podium result. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Breakdowns, crashes and pitstops are all part of racing which help to liven it up a bit, but every now and again you do get some real racing with decent overtaking. What could improve F1 would be to set a maximum budget teams could spend to even things out so that the richest teams no longer have an "at any cost" advantage.

I really meant "at any £££ cost". But I agree with what you said.

Not exactly on the same scale but over 40 years ago I used to race Anglia hot-rods. Basically stripped out 105E Anglias that you bought for a few quid, tuned it up, fitted a roll cage and off you went. It was a working mans motorsport. Plenty of them about and the most I think I paid for one was around £12. Fully stripped out and ready to race was no more than £30 on a fresh car. Anyway, there were those Charlie big spuds that regularly won with their limited slip diffs, lowered and stiffened suspension, blueprinted engines etc so they brought a rule out that at the end of any race, excluding the safety kit - roll cage, safety harness etc a car could be bought for a maximum of £125 on the spot and if the driver refused, he was banned. Didn’t make much difference because not a lot of people had £125 to spend in those days! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
