Rain X

Just bought a bottle off Amazon and it's arrived so I'll be applying it later. It gets good reviews on Amazon with customers noting that the wipers work better when needed and visibility all round is much better in the rain as the water just runs off easily.

It also helps with dead flies and so on. Anyone on here use it?

Also, I do wonder if windscreen washer fluid would strip it off the windscreen... LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Apply it sparingly and polish off with water, this helps prevent juddering.
Rain X do a washer additive that keeps it working, I now use 303 washer tablets which are fantastic but do strip it from the screen.

I have used it on my Freelander and found it caused considerable wiper judder, maybe it is the length of the wiper arms as I didn't have a problem on a previous car.

Dew and damp condense on the windscreen in cold weather so I found I had to use the wipers more often than without Rain X which seemed to defeat the object (at low speeds anyway).

Got both cars sorted and it's just started raining lightly. You can see the results as the rain just beads up on the surface and runs off. I also applied some to the headlight housing.

Just need some heavy rain now to see how it really performs. None whatsoever in the forecast though... Sod's law Rolling Eyes LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

The secret to judder free wipers with rainx or longer lasting G1 is to make sure that all the excess is removed once it has cured. I use a terry toweling cloth to buff the screen.
I have found that rainx does wear away after a while when wipers are used. Rainx is also great on plastic light lenses.

It is ... BUT, it contains solvents, these dry out the plastic and they will prematurely age and crack,

I've used RainX for years on all my cars

Lasts on non wiper swept glass for 3-6 months, wipers wear it off but would sat 4-6 weeks. Then reapply

Can cause a "Smear" that clears after the wipe for a split second sometimes, but rain droplets run off, I have been through torrential rain on intermittent wipe Wink

I've used rainx on the lenses of all my motorcycles and cars. Currently driving an 07 GS that I've owned for 7 years. The lenses are as clear as the new lens that has just been fitted (another story) on my wife's 15 plate Fiesta ST3. I'd be the first to complain if rainx had caused ageing or cracking. I really have a thing against any faults in lighting and don't understand how people can see where they are going or how they expect to be seen with faulty lights.
