Sorry rant over and sorry all you fl2 loving people. Think I'm in the market for a good td5 discovery or a motorbike or both. Turn off your TV turn on your brain

I have a 2012 SD4 and out here I hardly use it on anything longer than 5 miles with an occasional run of 25-30miles ( it's a small island and nothing is more than an hour away at 100KPH) I average about 29mpg and consider that pretty reasonable. I looked at the TD5 and decided it was a very poor attempt of a new car, more despite what BMW said, it was a facelift with a new engine and an all steel body as the BMW penny pinchers couldn't join ally to steel with the 300 series unlike the 200 series, look atany Landrover of yesteryear and you will find bits of Austin or Rover in them somewhere, an LR is similar to MG a bitser always was, though not so much today, but I wonder what TATA bits are hidden away my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Used to get 28 mpg towing and on a solo run but with a much more useable sized car. Just seems for a 61 plate fl2 its very poor mpg the disco was a 52plate lump of iron (and the best landrover I've ever owned) the fl2 in my mind should get mid to high 30 easy. Big question why doesn't it????? Turn off your TV turn on your brain

When in the UK I averaged about 33 on mixed urban suburban but 40 on runs from the Loch Lomond area to Dover, it didn't like French supermarket fuel so dropped to about 36mpg, did I care, not really, it was a fantastic long distance cruiser and stable as a rock when the heavens opened, one of the few cars that could keep to the speed limit and see where I was going and it;s the same out here in the torrential rain, many hold us up an no one can keep up. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

We get about 36mpg in the SD4 - which is ok as we only do about 8K miles per year Jules |

You don't drive like a grandad, just drive normally, if you drive like a grandad you will use more fuel as you'll never be in the right gear, I 've tried it my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
