I never use air con but would think one of those can treatments would work. |

Hi, might be worth checking that your drain pipe from the cooling coils drip tray is not blocked. Fairly common I believe.

I provided the pollen filter, since I had one, that I hadn't got round to putting in months ago....when the smell first started to annoy me! |

Never heard of this. Previous cars had for 18 years each, I used the AC all the time. The last car I only ever turned the AC off when taking off at the lights as it was such a large anchor. But it was back of 10 seconds later & on till the engine was turned off. The rare occasion the AC has been accidentally turned off, there is a bit of a smell, but this is similar to home AC I have had over the decades. I do this, but that's when it smells usually. Plus it blows all the moisture it's been removing back into the car and steams up the windscreen. Me and the wife must have sensitive noses too because we find both our cars as bad, and we have no blockages. I tried a cheap aircon bomb on both, no joy. I then tried comma, no joy. I then tried Holts and it worked, although it left a long lingering scent in the Freelander. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Holts-Air-Co...1438.l2649 This week I'm going to change the pollen filters for Activated Carbon ones and I've bought a £2 Dettol antibacterial compressed spray (neutral smell) from the Supermarket which I intend to spray up into the system while running with the pollen filter removed. I think aircon bombs are just the same stuff but in an overpriced 'single-press' can! |

I'll try the Comma one first , since I've already bought it. Also don't fancy paying £512 for an aircon cleaner ! |

Tenner a can at Amazon ![]() https://www.amazon.co.uk/Holts-LOYTEC1-Pro...B00D77T5UE Not that I've tried it - the best way to keep the aircon healthy IME is just to leave it on auto. |
