United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Indus Silver
Bubbling on sills

I purchased my Freelander2 from a dealer last November
MY 2008 60k miles and apparently in V Good condition.
Whilst cleaning the car last weekend I noticed some bubbling in front of the wheel arch
at the lower part of the sill.
Worse on the driver’s side than the passenger side.

Question
Has anyone else got this problem?
Best way to fix it?
A bit of a long shot this one - Is there any responsibility back to the dealer.

Any help guidance much appreciated

Trevor

very much doubt that you will have any come back on the dealer for that. Not unless he is a very very very nice dealer.

other than than, strip any trim away to expose everything, sand it down, treat it, prime and respray it... its a 9 year old motor bought from an independent dealer so wont be 100% perfect.

I suspect it's the stupid rubber edge "protectors " that have caused it more trouble than they are worth trapping debris and moisture in. Clean off all paint and rust until it's sound treat with rust killer primer then top coat and clear coat rub down with fine wet and dry until it's blended in lots of polish then wax, sounds easy doesn't it ? most lifestyle SUVs never saw anything other than Sainsbury's car park, but the Freelander 2 is frequently found getting its wheels muddy. Couple that with it being built with only "road grade " underbody protection , 9 years of road salt , and a few owners who never washed underneath and you have a recipe for tin worm. Even the fabled Defender chassis rusted faster than a fast thing if owners didn't upgrade the Under body protection. Use a Phosphoric Acid based rust stabiliser when you get back to the metal before repainting.

I doubt you have any bodywork claim on a 9 year old car , unless you bought it with a comprehensive 12 month warranty. If you bought it from a LR main dealer though, I'd be going back and having the discussion with them 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
