Are you assuming internal combustion engine only? I ask because my experience of hybrids is that the torque from the electric motor can be controlled with a finese impossible in a combustion engine, and I wonder if this could be used to take up the slack from a missing low range?

Even the old 14my RR HEV felt more precise in torque delivery, until the tiny battery ran out.

Yes, I’m assuming ICE only, as I’ve never driven an EV off road.

I don't dislike it,
flat wing tops and straight roof line, there's still the essence
of the older Defender,
don't like all the plastic on the front quarters but no doubt that's to meet euro regs.
I'm sure some of this will change in production.
not that I'll be able to afford one. Sad ............even if it proved reliable.

"but no doubt that's to meet euro regs."

What specific Euro Regs are they? And could the front end not fit regs from other places around the world. Not sure that winch lead would meet some regs.

Well L/R had to fit the end caps to the original steel bumper,
so I assume with the new bumper! reduced in width it is for a similar reason,
leaving a lot of plastic at the front quarter.
otherwise why produce an off! road vehicle with no real protection in that area.

It seems it's a proper 'spy photo', James Bond.

Looks less modern than the F2, less like a Defender than the various guises of the DC100. And for that reason, I'm out .
No, I'll let it grow on me like all of the modern Land Rovers have, starting with the original Freelander 1.

No doubt in a couple of years time they'll face lift it - and LR will already have that facelift on the drawing board ready.

I do like what I’ve seen of the new Defender. It’s on my list to replace the DS in a few years. Fingers crossed they’ll do a Trident Green one with white or cream roof. Not pearl or metallic though. That colour will match my old 1983 110.
