Cooling fan stays on

Hi,
We have 2013 Freelander in and the cooling fan won`t switch off and runs till the battery is dead, pull the plug on the fan motor/control module and obviously it stops, re connect and it is still off till next time.
I`m presuming we need to replace the motor/module (£319+vat), so just wondered if anyone had come across this before we order one?

Relay not working maybe? is there a separate relay for the fan that you could swap out ? cheap easy and may fix it if your lucky.

Other than that, its a 2013 so is there any warranty still on it ?

Fans are controlled over the CAN via module which selects speed and operation, there is no relay.
CAN reset would be logical first step. MY15

Haha, actually I think its a separate LIN connection from the Engine Control Module to Fan Module but a CAN reset is still first logical step. MY15

Probably the fan control module. They are a weak part that is known to fail. My fan was stuck on full but only when the engine was running.
As you are in ciren you could use Mj fews in Wooten under edge. They charge less than other dealers and you may be able to convince them to replace it for free out of warranty. (As I just did with my haldex pump).
