Cat Safety when wading

This may be a daft question, but your run of the mill car is liable to Cat damage if you wade it due to thermal shock.

I presume FL2 does not have any such issues and has been designed to cope with sudden cooling from submersion in water.

Freelander has a maximum wading depth of 500mm in still water.
Good practice is to stop, switch off engine and allow it to cool down before entering the water. Also turn off your air conditioning.

You also have to be aware that cold water can have a bad effect on hot brake rotors and wheel bearing seals. Water can be sucked through the seals if the temperature difference is too large I'm told. If the engine is still running then the shock of water hitting any part of the exhaust system is somewhat lessened by the exhaust gases still passing through.
