^^^It's grayed out in JLR SDD CCF as a changeable option. Would one have to be in "engineering mode" and/or edit the current session CCF value to "true" or both to disable this?

I fitted this 6 month ago, and by the way am a qualified vehicle technician for Range rover. So always busy lol, I reviewed the emulator in detail, even blowing the chip to read its software profile. No issues it just send a 0 rather than a 1 to the ecu. The steering column never locked even when I had the message and I proven its a software error. The part replace end is budget option, as I said my steering lock never came on, if so that's a mechanical issue that the emulator will not solve.

You need a tool that can edit the car's CCF (car configuration file).

Put the emulator on today bit of a faff but it seems ok. For anyone interested the electrical connector to the lock it’s self you connect to doesn’t seem to have any press in parts to release it’s just a big screw driver on the edge and a good whack. Also none of the videos I watched mention this and maybe it’s peculiar to the one I got but you have to have the steering lock off before you start otherwise when you’ve done the car starts but steering is locked. |

Bit of an update and something some may find interesting. Not had a problem with the steering lock since putting the emulator on. I’m not really bothered about the football and there is nothing on TV so I’ve been trawling round YouTube. I came across this guy I think called Samcrack his thing is he buys insurance right off cars from auctions anything he can repair nicely and use or sell on at a bit of a profit, there are lots of high end Bentleys Rolls Lambo Ferrari Porsche AMG etc but now and again a “normal” car crops up. He got a Mini Cooper and one of its problems was the electronic steering lock he said it’s very common on the Mini and BMW’s and also Land Rover. His advice was if you have a BMW get an emulator and put it on it’s only a matter of time before it goes wrong, then he said this really annoys me the Mini Cooper has something built into the main brain of the car which counts every time the steering is unlocked and when it reaches a certain number it just stops working ? Can this be right ? If so what about Land Rover ? The Mini in question was 10 years old. It looked a bit easier putting the emulator on the Mini than my Freelander and I tie wrapped mine up neater than his . |

How did you go about hot wiring around the steering column module? I tried spinning over the starter and having my son press the start button with his foot on the brakes and all the truck did was spin over, not start. I also bought the dealer software, the SDD. But you can't change the values on the lock module. Does anyone know how to disable it with the software? |

Mines a 57 plate and didn’t need any reprogramming the emulator has 3 wires to a plastic block I just pulled the ones on the lock and plugged the emulator in and that was it. |

Thanks for reply. I have an emulator and it works but was considering changing the OEM module and wondered if it needs programming to car? If yes can I buy the tool. |
