hi all - new to the world of Landrover & wanted to know if any members had been to Yarwell Pay & Play and whether it's a good starting point for a total offroad novice?

Did a Land Rover Experience day at Rockingham a couple of years ago in one of their Freelanders, and they ran the afternoon session at Yarwell. So yes I'd say it's a good place to have a go. As with any similar site, you will have to pick and choose your routes according to your vehicles capability and the level of risk of damage you are comfortable with.

I emailed them & they replied that it would be better to go a driver course before trying out Yarwell for the first time.

No, used their vehicle for the Experience Day. I did go back the next day and took the family for a quick ride round on the tracks that I'd already done, and knew were OK for ground clearance.
