I don't know who corrected you but you were misinformed! A quick press of the button is all that's needed to initiate the start sequence. From the handbook:

That suggests an underlying issue of some sort. Perhaps worth checking for fault codes in case it's something which could turn into a hard fault and prevent starting altogether. |

Agreed about developing faults and not leaving things too long usually but this is one that seems to be fine plodding along.

Try using your other key fob. I have this problem intermittently, but when I use the spare key it starts OK. I suspect the rechargeable battery in the key has died, so I've ordered a replacement and watched a YouTube video on how to replace it! |
