Topped Up With The Wrong Grade Oil !!!!!

Hi all,
In a moment of madness I've managed to top up my wife's Fiesta (1.25) with the wrong grade of oil. Censored
I put about a quarter of a litre of oil in of the spec and grade for my daughters Ford KA (yes they are different, the KA is a FIAT engine). So a little red faced and now looking at an oil change as she plans a bit of long distance motorway work next week. Embarassed
Has anyone had any experience of this: Petronas Engine Oil - Syntium 3000 FR Engine Oil - 5W-30.
On offer locally and cheaper than the FORD oil that I used at the last oil change.
Thanks in advance,

wouldn't worry about it at all, won't do any harm taking into account engine and quantities involved.

To little information on the different oils to pass a helpful comment.

We know the partial spec of one of the oils, but not the other. And we don't know anything about the Fiat engine in the Ka.

More info please Thumbs Up

Oils can be highly critical for maintaining (expensive to fix) emissions equipment.

I take Iain's point but seeing as the car has done 5K since the last oil change and it's been used around town a lot lately it won't do any harm to change it I suppose.

For info the specs are as follows:

Fiesta rec oil: 5W 30 to ACEA A5/B5 Ford WSS M2C913-C

KA Mk 2 rec oil: 5W 40 to WSS M2C917-A ACEA C3 API SM/CF Gone:

As said, 250ml of 'wrong' oil won't make any difference whatsoever. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

I was always told dont put diesel engine oil in a petrol the added detergents strip the oil from the piston rings.

but I believe thats old advice now,oil tech has moved on the strong detergents are no longer added At work

These are different oils, don't risk it and (like you say) it's not as if it won't benefit from an oil change anyway Thumbs Up
