I was a bit surprised it wasn’t electric powered, after all they’ve form with the E-Type and there seemed to be plenty of room under the “carriage” area for batteries......and it wouldn’t have had that embarrassing clattering deafening, sorry I mean Defender engine. Regards

I think the vehicle is quite old possibly middle to late 90's, pre-planning was one of his fortes and certainly a LR hearse was not a recent decision. Don't think anyone thought of electric vehicles then even electric milk floats were being phased out my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I heard it was first designed about 18 years ago, I thought being the innovator he was he might have given them a “gee-up” to bring it up to date before his last sailing. Regards

It was a Td5, you could hear its distinctive warble at tickover. Wonder what its future will be now? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948 2014 Orkney grey Freelander SD4 GS. 2004 Zambezi silver Discovery 2 Td5 (Gone) 1963 Surf blue Morris Mini Minor Super de Luxe (my little toy) |

It was indeed a TD5....that’s what was specified.....presumably from the Duke’s armed forces connection. Regards

All this talk about the Dukes old LandRover. I read somewhere that Prince Andrew was heard muttering something about wanting to be buried in a 15 year old Escort...... Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

If Jim Steinman had not had his nose broken in a bar fight and recorded his songs on the album Bat Out Of Hell , we would not of heard of the singer Meatloaf ! Every time I learn something new, something old gets pushed out of my brain? |
