Dealerships updating their premises

I guess this isn't just where I live but have people noticed that a lot of car dealerships are undergoing rebuilds or makeovers at present? The LR dealer in Yeovil is being totally rebuilt to incorporate a larger showroom with servicing being moved off site. In Poole there is a huge new Audi dealership just been built. I guess this will be reflected in the prices. Are other people seeing this trend around the country?
By comparison my local Mitsubishi and Toyota dealers are anything but that, they are small and tidy but no frills and service prices are half of LR. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

LR are making all their Jaguar/Land Rover dealers same owner/site - as a result the small family business are being sold and taken over by bigger companies like Hunters, Sytner, etc. This will reduce competition further Sad

In York Armstrong Massey have sold and now Hunters own both Jag and LR with a new site being built - this is happening all over. This has been the norm in Europe for years

The existing sites are not that old but are being rebuilt or moved and someone has to pay for it - agree the Mitsubishi Dealers are definitely not as flashy and the vehicles are a lot cheaper - not sure about aftercare yet as I haven't tried it but it can't be any worse than LR IMHO Rolling Eyes

This is what to expect to see in the end http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic44838.html

Farnell in Leeds are set to move to the ex BMW garage on Scotthall Road not far from the Jag agents so I suspect they will merge it all under one roof after a multi million pound refit.
I suspect the LR Indie over the road on Scotthall Road will get a lot of new customers. Rolling with laughter

Both my new FL2's came from Armstong Massey, I suspect there won't be a third. Reason they got my first custom was I turned up having been out on a mountain bike on the N Y Moors looking quite disheveled and they let me road test a FL2 stock car on my own for a good half hour where the Stratstone suit (then) in Pickering ignored me completely. Ripon LR serviced my cars under warranty and were good to do business with but the new lot have already Censored me off by, phoning, texting and sending unsolicited emails. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

All I can say on Mitsubishi is that I took my son's L200 in for a service, they had called earlier to say that it would take longer as there was some recall work to do on it as it was the new model. They provided a new ASX (which was OK but not for me). When we got back the loan car was full of shopping and they all came out to help move everything. So far there haven't been any issues with the vehicle so can't comment on aftercare. Service was £700 package deal for the first three services. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had an ASX for two years and it wasn't for me either and why I took the plunge with my current FL2. My local Mitsubishi dealer (Harratt's) were pretty good, yes they don't have a fancy showroom but they pretty much always did what they promised and if I wasn't happy with anything they would look at it again. I had no problems reliability wise but had a few niggles with the interior trim. Good luck!

I have paid £500 for 3 years servicing on PHEV - I paid that annually on RRS Sad

I visited 2 Mitsubishi dealers when considering the PHEV and 2 LR dealers for warranty issues/possible sale of DS - the treatment was poles apart which convinced me it was time to leave the JLR brand after 16 years/10 vehicles Rolling Eyes

I was hoping to come back to a DS PHEV but can't see it happening now they've announced a 3 cylinder diesel MHEV - the RRS PHEV will be silly money and half the EV range of the next Mitsubishi PHEV Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Jaguar Land Rover have combined a certain dealer up here also. I really don't know what I'll replace mine with when the time comes. Nothing took my fancy in the LR showroom in all honesty.

Personally I still think mine outside looked the best nothing "dated about it". I can now see me keeping the FL2 for a very long as they don't have anything to tempt me to part ex currently.

Rybrook holdings have taken over both the Huddersfield and Copley LR dealerships. In a nice move, Stonelake , which used to be the guy who ran Copley then Wakefield have set up as an independant next door to the Copley site with a premises that has all the look and feel of a LR main dealership when they used to be " proper". Probably the best set up Indie I have seen. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I wonder who decided to put a headstone outside the dealer?

It's even hugely reminiscent of a certain iconic public information advert from the late 80's.... Rolling Eyes

I haven't looked at dealers here but banks and other types of businesses are all going grey. It all has a bit of a cold corporate look. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

looking forward to seeing the new dealership in Leeds when its finished, if they have Jaguar more the merrier for me.

The way i look at it is dealership loyalty, since i have used them as my dealer for the the past 7+ years then, i have a good chance of a deal on a Jaguar, compared to walking into a Jaguar dealer unknown

All depends if i want another LR/Jag when i come to change Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
