I had to go and check the figures on Autotrader first but, looking at what else is available, £11,000 is pretty brave pricing, even for a 1 owner, low mileage, car. It's still an 8 year old car that could easily have been used for a lot of short journeys and I would try and buy newer if at all possible, especially if you can get that 2 year approved warranty.

It's a very fair point; because of the 2008 car's age, the availability of worthwhile aftermarket warranties is going to be very limited. My Freelanders were all pretty reliable, but if your rear diff or haldex unit fails (and they do), then you'll be glad of a decent warranty |

Thanks chaps. The extended warranty was something id thought about but wasn't all that fussed about. Spending an extra £5k to get a 2yr warranty approved used for me won't outweigh the cost of spending 11kish on an older one. Even if the diff goes and it costs me 1k to fix I'm still 4k better off. Granted with age I know more smaller things can start to wear.

Nothing major that I can think of, although there were minor specification changes from time to time (I couldn't tell you what though). It's debatable whether stop/start is worth having, particularly on the earlier cars where its operation seems a bit hit-and-miss. The Gen 4 Haldex is nice to have, but unless you're using the car off-road I suspect you wouldn't notice any difference in practice. |

I've got Stop/Start and it doesn't always engage tbh. However I'm pleased with my road tax all £185 for 12 months is decent MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Our 09 reg car is a 160 auto non stop start. The best ever mileage I have achieved is 40 mpg and that was on a 200 mile run down to Wales starting very early and pressing the accelerator pedal as if it was made of egg shells. An average week would see it matching the 32 that SakoQuad states, and that assumes it gets a few 20 mile runs thrown in . The car is never on the road in rush hour or used for commuting . If it were just used to pop to the shops and back 30 would not be achievable .
