SAT NAV INFO OUT OF DATE

Just returned from holiday in Cornwall one thing that I noticed was that some of the new/altered roads do not show up on the SatNav. For instance the new dual carriageway on the A30 west of Bodmin is not on there, and according to the screen, you are driving across nothing. It got confused when it was set to get me back to Wadebridge and was trying to get me back across open countryside to the old A30 which I think is being dug up.
Admittedly this is a very new stretch of road, but it has been under construction for a couple of years, so I would have thought that the CD would have had new roads programmed into it.
Given the cost of the Satnav, I wonder if landrover would offer a free upgrade as new CD maps become available.

John,

When I was collecting my car from the dealers (yet again) I overheard the chap next to me asking about SAT NAV updates, I think the dealer said that disks are produced about every year or so and cost about £130,

Have a look at the following link from teh LR website:

Sat Nav data (not just Land Rover) is often quite out of date. The companies, be they car manufacturers, people lile TomTom or Garmin, or software producers (e.g. MS Autoroute) buy the data off 2 or 3 different companies who produce the digital map data. These companies in turn review their maps on a rolling basis, so depending on where a new road appears and where they are currently surveying, it may get added almost immediately, or it make take 2 or 3 years (especially for minor roads). And then there's the added delay of when the companies using their data actually buy the new data off them.

I think the M6 toll had been open for nearly 2 years before it finally appeared on MS Autoroute!

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Narvik Black

I noticed that my 2007/2008 sat nav had POIs that were 5 years or more out of date!

Just had the email from LR trying to entice me to buy the latest update. I called the order line and spoke to a gentleman in Holland. I asked where I stood if the informatin was out of date and was told I had a 30 day money back guarantee as long as the seals were not broken!! I was told the purchase was under Dutch law.

I can understand new roads/businesses not being on the disc but POIs that are no longer in existance,7 years or more, is unacceptable.

At £149 for an update I cannot be sure is a true update is a rip off.

Called the local dealer and got a foggy response - we can order but cant guarantee fit for purpose.

Just where do we stand in this situation? 07 RRS Java Black

Local Stealer was not interested in selling updates directly to me as "there was nothing in it for them" unquote!!

Well took the chance via the web and the inevitable happened - Latest updates are....... out of date!

According to the "latest" update my cousin's street is still a farmers field despite being built over 7 years ago - along with her street all adjacent 6 streets are sharing the field. This isnt rural Argyll but central belt East Kilbride!!!

I believe TomTom use navteq and my old machine with maps dated 2004 has my cousin's street on the maps.

Navteq's response? "We are not responsible for updates". If this is the case why the propaganda on TV of their guys driving around Britain to check details from councils etc?

Does this latest update constitue "Fit for Purpose"?

If Landrover are astute enough to monitor this forum maybe they might want to reflect that the heap of c Censored p supplied has Landrover marketing all over the items.

So in short. Landrover will say thay are not responsible, Navteq Say they are not responsible, so it must be my fault? 07 RRS Java Black

There is a section on the navteq website to inform them of missing roads

I know we should have to do it, especially after 7 years Rolling Eyes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have put the info to Navteq as I think any reasonable person would.

Npinks is right though why after 7 years should we still have to when Navteq have the info i.e. Tomtom maps

Maybe wait 4 years and buy the update - unles RRS have better maps he he 07 RRS Java Black
